And on the fourth day, there was word study

School of Biblical Foundations has started! Our schedule usually is:

8:00 to 8:30- Quizzes over the readings from the night before. That's quizzes, as in more than one. For each reading, we have a quiz. We have 5 books, a Strong's Concordance, and an NASB Bible that we use. Fortunately, we haven't started two books yet, so we don't have five quizzes a day. The most we've had is four (we had that many today), since we sometimes read more than one chapter.
8:30-12:30- Book Discussion followed by lecture- an intense time where we are challenged and pushed to learn so much! It's great. We're learning: church history, where we got the bible, validity of the Scriptures, and so many other things.
12:30-1:30- Lunch
1:30-3:00- Study, study, study!
3:00-4:00-Work duties. I work in hospitality. I clean and help get rooms ready for guests. The other two girls in SBF work with me. The guys chop wood, fix things, and other "guy" stuff.
4:00-5:30-Study again
5:30-6:15- Dinner
6:15-??- Study, hang out, or blog :)

Today we learned about word studies. Word studies are where you take a word in a verse, find out the original word in the the original language, see how that word is translated different ways in other verses, and using that information, find out how the author intended the word to be used. It sounds complicated, and it's a lot of work, but it's fun.

We had a lot of homework tonight. 3 chapters to read, a word study on the word "crown" as it's used in Philippians 4:1, begin preparing our sermons, begin to study Haggai, and begin to study Ephesians...it was a lot. We're expected to do about four hours of study each day, if not more.

I'm also having fun here, too. Game nights, and random activities late at night keep me sane.

Please pray for:that I would put my walk with God before anything else; energy-I'm really tired mentally and physically; Finances: have about $600 more I still need for the school; Clarity of mind- so I can learn without getting caught up in the fact that I have no idea what I'm doing, as there are so many new things being thrown at us.

Praise God for: I'm having little epiphanies where the lightbulb goes on and I finally grasp an unfamiliar concept. I'm enjoying what I'm learning-it's so great to be able to get to know God better through His word.
